Funding Assistant Position - Volunteer

posted Mar 5, 2017, 1:09 PM by Viv Dostine   [ updated Mar 5, 2017, 1:09 PM ]

Volunteer to assist our funding manager (also a volunteer) to put together grants applications for our charitable trust, and reconcile those grants if funding is obtained.  This position mainly deals with getting quotes for project materials, or services, but it will also require you to work with other members of the organisation to get details of the project e.g. getting details of items from our Head Coach, or putting together a Bill of Materials (BOM) with our property manager. Once funding is obtained, you will assist in reconciling the grant application  - ensuring that the funding is properly accounted for, and all requirements of the grant are met.

This position will give you great experience in the non-profit, and the community grants sectors, and give you a great start in the business world with real-world experience in both ethical, and legal accountability, as well as understanding business processes and timelines at a Board and Management level in a charitable organisation (which are directly transferable to most profit driven businesses).

You will need to work with deadlines, show initiative, and attention to detail, and communicate well with others from a wide variety of backgrounds.

Hours are flexible.  We are looking for someone who can allocate a few hours per month.  Generally these will be bounded by the processes of funding committees and our Board meetings, so while you need to meet deadlines, there is quite a lot of flexibility in time to do the tasks themselves.

We are located in Whangaparaoa, but you can perform all tasks required remotely if you wish. Our Board\ volunteer management team use Skype and email\Google + Suite. We do encourage a visit to our site to see our programmes in action, and at least one face-to-face meeting with our Funding Manager before starting, so that you can appreciate what we do, how we operate and understand the importance of, and constraints on, the tasks you may be assigned.

Please send your CV to hr@equestrian4everyone.com   Subject "Funding Assistant Application"

Horse Leaders \ Grooms

posted Sep 6, 2016, 7:36 PM by Viv Dostine   [ updated Jan 13, 2017, 12:27 AM ]

We need people to lead our ponies for our weekday equine programmes.  Should be calm, and confident around horses, preferably an experienced horse person, but we will train the right person\people.  We need people over 18 yrs old

Are you experienced with horses, but no longer have your own? Here's the perfect opportunity to get your horse fix, without all the time and expense. Are you a calm, confident person, who has dealt with other animals, but not horses? Here's an opportunity to get to know horses, and help your local community.

Many of our equine programs require a person to lead the pony.  The person must be able to independently control the pony, leaving our coaches free to concentrate on lessons with the student.  We will teach you exactly how to lead our ponies, and we constantly update the training of our horses to ensure our volunteers are safe and able to handle them easily.

Communication is key,  a horse leader must be able to communicate well with the rest of the team to ensure the safety of clients, and staff.

Can only offer an hour? Please apply - we value everyone's contribution, and would rather have someone who can offer an hour once a fortnight, than no one at all.

Gardener(s)

If you live in or near Whangaparaoa, we are a growing charitable organisation offering equestrian services to the community.  We're looking for a person, or group of people who enjoy gardening to come help make our venue beautiful.

We have plenty of manure, and some planter boxes, and plenty of land. We'd like to make our client arrivals area more beautiful, and we'd love a local, or even a group of locals, who enjoy gardening to help us out.

We aren't in a hurry, so it doesn't matter if you aren't keen on the rain, or just want to come up when you feel like it.  We'd love it if a social group forms for regular, or occasional gardening get togethers, and we have a beautiful bush block that you can enjoy as part of your volunteering perks!

We have clients, horses and ponies onsite, as well as pest control, so we do need to run a health and safety site induction for you.
